Interlocking Lead Brick
Using Pitts Little Corporation’s interlocking lead bricks can be an ideal solution for your radiation shielding needs. The efficient interlocking chevron shape allows the bricks to stack neatly, eliminating any line of sight seams, and therefore, any radiation leakage in the wall. The interlocking lead bricks are manageable, easy to assemble and disassemble, require no mortar and can be used in new construction or to augment existing shielding.
Pitts Little Corporation’s interlocking lead bricks have a standard face of 4” X 12” and thicknesses of 3/4”, 1”, 1-1/2”, 2” and 2-1/2”. These interlocking lead bricks can be cut to any size and custom sizes are available. These bricks are generally used in nuclear shielding or in radiation therapy applications such as PET Scan Rooms, Gamma Knife Rooms, HDR Rooms or Linear Accelerator Vaults. The interlocking lead bricks can also be used for ballast weight, as counter balances, in temporary/ permanent storage areas or in any place where additional shielding or weight is needed and space is at a premium.
Interlocking lead bricks and straight lead blocks are available. We will be happy to provide a quotation to furnish and install interlocking lead brick shielding at your facility. Lead bricks are available coated with epoxy paint. Steel tubes may be used if support is required. Please see the pictures below of some of our recent installations.
